AK RomMil Airport & Marina
celebrates its first
Anniversary on September 24, 2020
It has been one year since AK RomMil Airport opened its runways to the first landings and take-offs. A year full of events, changes, and improvements, including our harbor and a Marina Club and area where you can relax in between a flight or a boat trip. We've put much effort and we've got much satisfaction from your appreciation.
We wish to celebrate this anniversary with "ALL OF YOU", who trusted us (THANK YOU!) renting our gates, helipads, docks, and desks, by flying and sailing here or simply spending time here contributed to the success of the airport and marina.
We organized some events on September 24, 2020, and we warmly invite you to join us, starting from 12:45 SLT.
The highlight of the celebrations will be an exhibition of the famous SL French Aerobatic Team (the PAF-SL team - Patrouille Acrobatique de France) that will start at 13:00 SLT.
Those terrific pilots will take off from the airport and fly their show over Qomene SIM, just in front of the airport facing the airshow area.

To avoid too much lag, that might adversely affect their performance, we kindly invite you to remove your AOs and reduce the impact of scripted elements (dresses, hair, ...) to a minimum. We will be very grateful for this.
The PAF show will be preceded by an exhibition of the AK RomMil Fire Department that will show you how safe is flying from and into AK RomMil also in the unfortunate event of an accident.

The airport name comes from AK = Aquila Airlines/Klaber Air joining the initials of 2 old SL airlines (since 2010) owned and managed by the airport owners.
RomMil is the initials of two towns in Italy where the owners come from.: Rome/Milan.
The airport and marina area uses over 100 dummies with a dynamic system that handles them based on people's presence. There are different spots in the airport as an entry point for them, and they also disappear if nobody will be around. You can check that by panning the camera on a place of the airport where nobody's around: no dummy will be there. This solution helps to keep the airport less lag-prone and it even helps the landing pilots to load fewer assets when reaching the place.
Airport has a brand new Fire Department with working trucks to handle fire emergencies that may arise from the airport or from airplanes on duty. They are an excellent, well equipped, and serious team (German).
The whole airport is designed to keep both SL and RL integrity balanced, so to be a handy place for normal guests, but even a good setting for some RP for those willing to do so. With that in mind, the airport is built having lounge areas, check-in desks, and a mandatory security gate that leads to every through the walkway tunnel.
As a side activity, the airport hosts some airshow over time. Because of that, some acrobatic fleet comes here to train, mainly the PAF (Patrouille Acrobatique de France).
There is a dedicated Air Show Area for visitors where to find sits and the best position and view to enjoy the shows on the top of Terminal B.
